  • It all depends on how many people and how many days you are on the island, start from $555 for a day trip, including 4WD hire from Hervey Bay, return barge, national park pass, car cleaning after hire.

  • The best option for a day trip to Fraser Island is to take one of the guided day tours, including return transfer, return barge, national park fee and lunch. The tour will visit 6 most famous destinations on the island. You can also do a 4WD self drive day trip to Fraser Island.

  • The ocean surrounding the Fraser Island is not snorkel friendly. There are no coral or plants, but some dangerous ocean animals, such as sharks, octopus, and poisonous jellyfish.

    You may want to snorkel in lakes and creeks to see what’s underneath the surface, but it won't have much to see.

  • No. Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world, all the roads and tracks are made of soft sand. It is only suitable for 4WD.

    You will need a vehicle access permit to drive a 4WD on Fraser Island. Vehicles can only get onto the island by ferry.

  • No. The Fraser Island national park does not allow dogs on the island, except assistance dogs which require a permit before being allowed on the island.

  • Fraser Island is home to many lakes. Some lakes are shallower than they first appear, and you need to be aware of these risks. There are some lakes safe for swimming, such as Lake McKenzie, Lake Wabby, Champagne Pools, Eli Creek.

    Swimming in the ocean along the coast is not recommended.
